The University of Portsmouth is an ambitious institution with a track record of success. One of only four universities in the south east of England to achieve a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework and ranked in the top 150 in the Times Higher Young University World Rankings.

Applications are invited for a fixed-term, 1.0 FTE Teaching Fellow in any area of Psychology. We are seeking motivated and collegial individuals, committed to decolonising the curriculum, who will join a dedicated and expanding team to deliver high-quality engaging teaching and supervision/personal tutoring on our MSc Psychology (conversion) online programme.

The successful applicant will contribute to administrative tasks within the Department. Our aim is to bring together a team of academics to complement and enhance our Departmental activities and enable us to continue to excel in research-informed teaching underpinned by innovative and exciting pedagogic methods.

We are aiming to appoint colleagues to be in post as soon as possible.

The Department of Psychology offers a vibrant and supportive academic community with an excellent teaching environment and opportunities for professional development for staff. Consistent feedback suggests we are a warm and collegiate Department committed to equality, diversity and reducing ‘awarding gaps’ that exist in HE. We provide an exceptional educational experience for our students, and we have an excellent track record of students going on to either postgraduate study or employment. We offer an incredibly rewarding place to work.

Our Department comprises four research centres/groups; the Quality of Life, Health and Well-Being Research Group, the Centre for Interaction, Development and Diversity, the Centre for Comparative and Evolutionary Psychology, and the International Centre for Research in Forensic Psychology. Our facilities include EEG, eye tracking and psychophysiology labs, virtual reality and motion detection labs, interviewing suites and a baby/infant lab.

The University of Portsmouth believes this role may be eligible for sponsorship with UKVI under the Skilled Worker Route visa. Please familiarise yourself with the requirements set out before applying for this role. If you are unable to meet the requirements for sponsorship you will need to confirm details of an alternative visa to work in the UK when applying for this role.

We are strongly dedicated to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) within our community. As an Athena SWAN and Race Equality Charter award holder, a member of Stonewall and a Disability Confident Employer we are passionate about creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, regardless of your background. We welcome applications from all talented people. In addition, we want our workforce to be representative of our diverse student population. Please see our EDI Framework and objectives.
