Position Overview & Specifications
Introduction
This post is based within the Research Degrees and Researcher Development Team (RDRD) within the Directorate of Research and Business Engagement (RBE), which supports the ongoing development of strategy and policy for research, business engagement, and postgraduate research and works together with faculties and other PS directorates to ensure effective operational support for research and researchers.
The post-holder will lead on the design and delivery of a package of support focussing on career development across multiple career pathways for postdoctoral researchers and research fellows. This will sit within the University’s researcher development programme. The work will embed the work of the Prosper project run collaboratively by the Universities of Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster which has developed a sector leading postdoc career development model to be rolled out across Higher Education Institutions in the Summer of 2023.
The post-holder will lead, develop and deliver an annual programme incorporating development tools, resources and activities that support postdoctoral and research fellow career planning and respond to the identified needs of a range of stakeholders and employers.
This will involve working in close partnership with a wide range of academic and professional services colleagues across the University as well as contacts in external organisations and establishing and maintaining effective networks to deliver researcher development activity of the highest quality.
Ideal applicants will have significant experience in researcher development design and delivery for early career researchers and a strong understanding of the UK researcher development context and competing pressures placed on researchers within a national and international context.
