About the Role

The UK IT Desktop Build engineer role is to primarily support the UK Desktop Team with the ongoing Tech refresh where we replace any Laptops, Desktop and Workstations that are over 4 years old. There will also be an element of 2nd line Desktop support work. The primary work location will be in Ampthill, Bedfordshire but with possible occasional travel to other locations within the UK. This position requires a customer focused hands-on technical engineer with the ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment.

You will provide day-to-day delivery of technical support for end-users of client applications, VOIP telephones, smartphones, tablets, printers and computer hardware.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Resolve incidents & requests using Service Central whilst adhering to agreed SLAs where possible
  • Assist with maintaining the asset tracking system when required
  • Participate in project work as required such as software and hardware refresh programmes
  • Deploy, maintain and support iOS devices
  • Write, update and maintain written processes and procedures
  • Travel to support other sites within the UK where required

Required skills, qualifications and experience



Required
  • Experience with Windows 10 deployment using SCCM
  • Tech refresh project previous experience
  • Experience of HP laptop, desktop and workstation hardware
  • Experience with installing 3rd party applications
  • Experience with disk encryption and secure environments
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without appreciable direction
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve hardware and software issues
  • Ability to liaise and interact with high profile individuals
  • Desktop support 2nd Line experience – Day to day tasks/incidents
  • The ability to follow our standard tech refresh process
  • Desirable
  • Experience with remote desktop support
  • Experience with mobile device (iOS) support
  • Experience of Service Now asset management and ticket system
  • Familiarity audio visual IT equipment
  • ITIL qualification
  • Experience with MS Teams
  • Experience with Active Directory
