Public Health Principal, Wider Determinants of Health and Wellbeing

Ealing is a highly diverse and vibrant borough in the west of London. Home to around 370,000 people, it is the third largest borough by population in London and is an exciting, diverse and challenging place to live and work.

The post will provide public health skills and expertise to a range of wider determinants (locally known as ‘building blocks’) of health and wellbeing work across the council (e.g. climate action, planning, housing etc..) with support from the public health consultant lead for this area. This includes community empowerment as a key wider determinant of health, and as such, the role will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the Community Champions Programme for the council.

Your skills in partnership and multidisciplinary working will be highly regarded particularly in working across a wide range of council departments, across the local borough-based partnership, with voluntary community and faith sectors, and with community members themselves.

This role offers a great learning opportunity for a public health professional in system-wide, community development, and asset-based approaches to tackling inequalities. The public health team has a strong learning ethos and provides a very supportive environment.

Currently, the majority of staff are hybrid working, with 2 days a week attendance required in Perceval House and 3 days virtually from home (this may change depending on the needs of the department). The post is a permanent post in the team.
