Technical Officer

The post holder will join a team who are responsible for delivering the Councils statutory functions in respect of the regulation of housing standards and dealing with the detrimental impacts of long term empty homes. This includes the licensing of up to 650 HMOs, responding to approximately 700 housing condition complaints, tackling over 2500 long term empty homes and dealing with 4500 properties that do not meet minimum energy efficiency regulations.

The role holder is responsible for the effective delivery of their specialist work area, in this case the work will predominantly be dealing with housing conditions and empty homes.

The post holder has a wide remit of protecting the health, safety and welfare of occupiers in rented accommodation including the most vulnerable members of society.

The role holder will involved in property inspections, drafting and serving of enforcement notices, preparation of cases for prosecution, the issuing of Civil Penalty Notices. They will also provide the Technical Support Team with assistance in dealing with more complex enquiries.

This is a fixed term role until 31 March 2025.
