The Role
The role of the IA during the EPA is to conduct an impartial assessment of whether the Police Apprentices have developed the skills, knowledge, and behaviours (KSBs) outlined in the apprenticeship standard:
- Conduct and assess the professional discussion following a review of the occupational competence portfolio (OCP) – EPA 1
- Assess the professional policing practice project – EPA 2
- Assess the professional policing practice presentation and conduct Q&A based on the Professional Policing Practice Project – EPA 2
Department
The Policing team has an excellent balance of academic expertise and professional experience, is actively involved in research and debates e.g. via Canterbury Centre for Policing Research, and are key part of the the author team behind Blackstone's Handbook in Policing. The department has strong links with a wide range of community and voluntary agencies, as well as a number of police services and stakeholders both locally and further afield, including Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Kent and the Metropolitan Police, the Police Service of Northern Ireland, and the Police Service of The Netherlands.
