We are currently recruiting a Head of IT to oversee the IT function across our group sites (UK & Poland).

Who are we looking for?*
Are you a strong project manager? Do you know what ‘good’ looks like? If so, we may have just the role for you!

We are looking for an experienced Head of IT, who has experience managing the IT infrastructure of a multi-site, multi-system business, who can take us to ‘good’!

You’ll be responsible for overseeing all technology operations, including network security, operational upgrades and enhancements, as well as managing outsourced infrastructure (data centres).

Our customers are all major food retailers who utilise their own EDI platforms for product ordering, returns, technical data etc, therefore experience working with EDI platforms is hugely advantageous.

An understanding of SQL, Microsoft packages, IBM and Oracle are essential. It would also help if you have knowledge of finance and manufacturing systems, including System21, Tropos, Exchequer and Sage.

We are always looking to grow and expand as a business, which we’ve done significantly over the past 5 years, so experience being involved in acquisitions and subsequent infrastructure integrations, may come in handy!

The role of Head of IT at BBF*

• Oversee all technology operations (e.g. network security, operational upgrades and enhancements) and evaluate them according to established goals
• Maintain and review IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by the Directors
• Analyse the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
• Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment, software and services
• Manage installations, upgrades and configurations of hardware, software and services
• Provide budget and report on expenditure within the department
• Manage contracts with vendors (e.g., development platforms, telecommunication companies, third part support providers password managers) and software licenses
• Manage and coordinate the IT team to provide support and guidance (currently 2 personnel based in Blackburn, 2 in Hull & 1 in Szczecin, Poland)
• Assess system performance and recommend improvements
• Prepare Capex submissions for major IT investments
• Resolve issues escalated by IT team
• Review and approve IT supplier invoices
• Ensure data is handled, transferred or processed according to legal and company guidelines, including GDPR
